We have established Provincial Adoption Coalitions that are active in the adoption community and childcare & Protection sector in:
Eastern Cape, KZN, Gauteng (Tshwane), Western Cape
KZN – Marietjie Strydom
Accredited Adoption Social Worker, Play Therapist, Co-Founder of the Attachment Foundation and International Presenter.
Marietjie Strydom is a highly respected expert in her field with a Master’s degree in Play Therapy. She has worked in both the public and private sectors in South Africa and the UK and specialises in the fields of trauma, attachment and self-regulation (therapy and assessment). She has a special interest and focus on developmental attachment therapy, child dissociation and in using a sensory integrative approach to self-regulatory difficulties. Apart from offering individual and family-based therapy and legal assessments, she continues to offer sought after support, advice and training to schools, parents and professionals, both locally and abroad.
Eastern Cape (PE) – Linda Van Zyl
Linda van Zyl completed her social work studies in 1974 at Hugenote Kollege (Wellington). She started her adoption journey and career in 1978 at SAVF Pretoria after which she joined CMR Port Elizabeth. She is an accredited adoption social worker in private practice since 2007 as well as acting as a consultant to an adoption unit.
Gauteng (Tshwane) – Marlise Viljoen
Marlise is an accredited Adoption Social Worker in Private Practice. She is the co-founder of Adopticare – Specialist Adoption Unit. She started her adoption career at Abba Adoptions in 2002 and has been working in the adoption field for the past sixteen years. Adopticare specializes in step-parent adoptions, family related adoptions and adoptions from foster care.
Western Cape (Tshwane) – Tilda Fick
Tilda Fick is employed as Manager of the Western Cape satellite office of Abba Specialist Adoption and Social Services. She qualified as a social worker in 1992 after which she worked at CMR in Johannesburg and Pretoria for 10 years. She has been working in the field of adoptions since 2004 and also acts as Chairperson of the Western Cape Adoption Coalition.
